Redwood Parents & Carers

We aim to provide as many opportunities to work collaboratively with our Parents and Carers at Redwood. As a school we can’t express enough how much we appreciate your input, as you know your child best! We always value feedback and constructive critism, so that we can continue to grow and develop as a school and organisation.

We all want the best for our students and young people – we feel the best way to do that is together. If you’d like to get in touch, have any creative ideas for things we could do in the future or get involved in anything that we currently do – please don’t hesitate to get in touch! We would love to hear from you!

Parent/Carer Group:

This is a space in which family members of the students who attend any Redwood setting can come and meet one another. The purpose is to offer as much support to our families as possible – creating an opportunity for peer to peer support to happen especially.

We often have visitors from external professionals and organisations to give information on the support and services available in and around Rochdale, for families with young people with additional needs and disabilities.

Our Parent/Carer Group meets in a variety of environments whilst doing a range of activities. We go for walks, go for a coffee, have picnics, visit parks and other accessible places across the Rochdale Borough – we want to take away that pressure of our families having to come into school, sit in a circle and talk or listen for an extended period of time. These opportunities just give us all a way of communicating with each other and for us all to have an opportunity to talk individually and as a group, about our own struggles and how we can help and support each other.

We meet every half term at least! Please let Justin know if you’re interested in attending! or 01706 750 815.

Our Parent Teacher Association is a more focused version of our Parent Carer Group. We concentrate on how we will contribute to the development of the school, coming up with, planning, preparing and implementing ideas we have discussed as a group.

We also get asked questions from a range of people, including; Redwood Staff, Governors, Students, External Professionals – all of whom want our family’s input to help them be able to develop their provision, services or organisations.

As most PTA’s, we also get involved in the planning of some key school events, like the Christmas Fair, which is currently our biggest school fundraising event of the year. The PTA then helps to decide what we use that money for in school -this is always something that will benefit our young people.

Again, we meet every half term at least! Please let Justin know if you’re interested in attending! or 01706 750 815.
